Craters Of The Moon National Monument, Idaho By Aaron Johnson, Joel Anderson, 2022
- Craters Of The Moon National Monument, Idaho
Given its name for its almost otherworldly appearance, Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve is located in the Snake River Plain of central Idaho. It is situated along US 20, between the small towns of Arco and Carey, at an average elevation of 5,900 feet above sea level. The monument was established on May 2, 1924, and was once a vast ocean of lava flows with scattered cinder cones and sagebrush islands. The preserved wilderness is often described as a “Weird and scenic landscape where yesterday’s volcanic events are likely to continue tomorrow.” In 2017, Craters of the Moon was designated as an International Dark Sky Park for its stunning night sky. This classic design and vintage poster art by Anderson Design Group artists will look great as a framed print, canvas, metal sign, mini-canvas, postcard, or notecard.
